From the Desk of Mayor Paul A. Hoelscher:
I would like to bring everyone up to date with the services of the Borough Hall offices. Even though the Borough Hall is closed to people who are walk-ins, anyone who requires assistance, or has questions, can call or email in advance, and can make an arrangement to enter the building if absolutely necessary. In order to ensure the safety of both our residents and the Borough Hall employees, it shall remain this way for now.
Since September, the Borough Hall has been fully staffed and the services have continued including issuing building permits, tax collection, marriage license, notarizing documents, municipal court, Board of Health, etc.
The Council in conjunction with our departments’ staff, have been creative in conducting safe, secure and healthy means of handling all Borough business. We have used our parking lot for open air meetings and bid openings. We have made sure emails and phone messages are answered quickly. Items are scanned, emailed, placed in the mail and even in certain cases, have been hand delivered. If there is no other way to address your needs, an appointment may be made to enter the building to conduct your necessary business.
Our local COVID cases have been on the rise and we want to ensure we are doing whatever we can to protect all our residents and employees. We also want to keep all our services available to you in the best manner possible.
At this time, I cannot predict when the Borough Hall will open to allow the public into the building on a regular basis. The protocols that we are following are similar to those of neighboring municipalities, as well as, Bergen County and State Offices. We can only hope that as the weather changes, and the vaccine is provided to more people, the containment of this virus will allow us all to return to a more normal means of life. As information is provided by the County and our Board of Health, along with the CDC, we try to make the best determinations possible and keep the public informed.
Below is a list of some important departments and their contact information. You should find this quite helpful.

From the Desk of Paul Hoelscher:
My purpose in writing today is three-fold.
First, as you probably already know, there has been a major spike in the number of positive COVID-19 tests throughout the United States. Unfortunately, we have experience an increase in Harrington Park, as well. Harrington Park is still at the lower end of the amount of cases per capita in Bergen County.
As a result, I am asking everyone to follow the basic recommendations of our health professionals. They recommend the following:
• Wear a face mask as much as possible
• Practice social distancing of at least 6 feet
• Wash your hands as much as possible
• Avoid large crowds of people
• If you feel ill, stay home and contact your health care provider
Working together we can stabilize our numbers in the days to come. Your cooperation is essential to our success in battling COVID-19.
Finally, while Borough Hall remains closed to the public, all of the Borough staff are available by phone or email. All of our first responders are ready to assist any emergency. During these difficult times, please know your safety and property remain our main priority. May you stay safe and healthy.
Thank you,
Paul A. Hoelscher
