Board of Health Information

The Health Department oversees a wide range of services from wellness programs for pre-school children and senior citizens, to inspecting businesses for sanitation and food handling, to issuing cat licenses, and managing rodent control for the Borough.

Governing Body
The Board of Health is an autonomous board which consist of citizen members who meet several times a year to review the health department activities.

The Board Members of the Harrington Park Board of Health consist of volunteers: seven Members plus two Alternate Members. The Members and Alternate Member(s) are appointed by the Mayor, and approved by the Borough’s elected Council, in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Borough Code. Each Member of the Board serves a three-year term beginning on the 1st day of January of the year appointed. Any unexpired vacancy is filled for the remainder of the prior member’s term. Alternate Members are appointed annually for a one-year term.

The Board of Health meets at Borough Hall on the 1st Monday of the month (generally) five times a year: January, March, June, September, November.

The Board monitors the activities of the part-time Sanitarian Inspector who inspects all businesses that handle food, and investigates any health related compliants. The Board makes suggestions to Mayor and Council relating to such things as Smoke Free Zone, Cannabis ~ No Selling Enterprise Zone.
