The office of the Assessor is responsible for:

• The assessment of all real property and vacant acreage in the Borough
• Maintain Property Report Cards
• Keeping Assessments current
• Proof the tax book for accuracy
• Process deeds for each sale of property
• Issue Chapter 75 notices

Annual assessment post cards are typically mailed at the end of January of each year and state the current year's assessed value. Taxpayers have the right to file an appeal with the Bergen County Board of Taxation if they are not satisfied with their assessment. Tax appeal forms (with instructions) can be obtained on the Bergen County Tax Board web-site or by calling the Bergen County Tax Board at: 201-336-6300. The deadline to file a tax appeal is April 1, of every year.
